Absolutely perfect first issue! The stage has been set, the powers and explanation laid out, a villain introduced, and supporting characters on board! Great inner dialogue.....This is even better than your FF work and I wouldn't have thought it possible....probably because its more personal to you.....I can't wait for more...and between you and I, Arron, The half-million was pure Parker, he'd smile if he read it....

I agree. For a first issue, this one has a nice feel to it. So often with these fan-fics, we have to spend time establishing the characters and storyline knowing that most readers already know the basics. Here, though, we know nothing of Darkeye and his world, so each part we read reveals something new. And I know that, while I have my favorite comic book and movie characters, my ultimate favorite super-hero characters are the ones I've created myself. To some extent, its probably like that for many of us. That love comes across in Darkeye #1. Can't wait to see where it leads.

Thanks for the praise, guys. I hesitated to allow this to be posted but I acquiesced due largely to Spider-Man Beyond's encouragement and enthusiasm. Thanks, Dan.
Nyg, your comments always humble me. Told you I ripped off Parker. I hope it's distinct enough (hell, Parker doesn't write superheroes).
Joel, glad you liked it. You're right, this is more personal and I do have great love for this character. I have very long range plans for this series and I could easily write a hundred issues for it, so stay tuned. I hope I can deliver.

Great opening. It's a good combo between a superhero and a old detective story. I like the flow. I think you got an interesting and unique character here.

I like the first issue but this one was much better. It has great feel and flow to it. I was taken in by it right a way. I like the detective feel and really enjoy the writng style. in just two issue you've already open lots of doors. I'm excited to see how this world develops. Good Job

Darkeye #2 is a great read, very well paced and not really unbelievable. I mean, for a great deal of superhero stuff, you really have to suspend disbelief, but Darkeye is street level and feels real to me, his abilities complimenting his current work (or his work chosen to compliment his abilities). Real bad luck, though. You could have the same situation 100 times and not have it come out so rough. It is also good to see a hero story so personal. The secret Identity is not a separate entity, it is simply part of the character, and what effects one effects the other. Very good style of writing, and I will be reading more.

royharper, glad you're enjoying this. I do very much enjoy writing in this style, as most of my fanfiction is written either in first or third person. Combining the two I think gives you different and interesting perspectives.
Joel, thanks for the insightful comments. And yes, the line between superhero and secret identity is blurred, but still there. My thoughts on this are to make the secret identity the smart ass, tough but sensitive type (heavily influenced by Robert B. Parker's Spenser character), and the superhero the dark, menacing, emotionless void. A complete character transformation, and the opposite style of say, Spider-Man. I hope you'll find it uniquely derivative of other fictional characters, and I hope you keep reading. It's a blast to write this.

Just read #1 and loved the feel of it, it felt like a detective movie, especially with the narrative and the characterization was great too. Excellent all around.

Read issue two and liked it better than issue one. I like how Jack isn't afraid to use his powers to help him out with his day job, it think it adds a little bit of realism to a title that oozes with realism. Great Job on this title.
