I say this is a great first issue. A young scientist, eager to do some important work, then realizing what he really did......very good

Thanks Dan!
This series and these characters originally began in the Marvel Super Heroes RPG like 15-17 yrs ago. At that time, they were mutants and one of the jr X-Men teams. Since then, I had so many cool ideas and characters and stuff to interact with them in my head I had to come up with a way to use them without them being linked to the Marvel Universe. So, after many late nights watching various things on the discovery channels, I came up with them being engineered. Also, several years worth of City Of Heroes helped me to further define some of these characters and modify some ideas I already had.
The core of the group will be introduced very slowly, and the team will not be 'named' within the story itself for quite some time. I have many, many characters in my head that you will soon see, but I am also not at all averse to accepting some character ideas from readers, even if you just have a vague idea of abilities or something and wanna toss it my way, go right ahead, though again, I have a lot of the series already done so it would be some time before I incorporated anything not already in my head.

Nice start and characterization (ask anyone here. I'm a sucker for good characters). Great use of space and time with your little capsule descriptions of the past. You have a good writing style, and I will be reading to see where this leads. Who knows, maybe we can do a crossover with my original series Battleforce somewhere along the way.

Well, joel, this Next doesn't exist on the same world, which is why I gave it its own section. I think this particular title works best with these characters being the world's only supers...or at least the way there are supers to begin with. Though, you could do a crossover that literally crosses over from as world to another world..........

Yeah, pretty much what Dan said, the idea here is the only other supers the world knows of exist in comic books. Though, of course, with all the sharing of worlds going on round these parts, its not to say some version of some characters couldn't appear elsewhere sometime, just not necessarily withing the primary continuity here.

I agree that this was very good. I had planned to read it tomorrow and, while waiting on something to download, I started reading the beginning. Before I knew it I had finished the entire issue.
Nothing but good story and characterization. You left me wanting to know more about them. I like Bala!

Somehow I had a feeling you'd like her...hopefully not to disappoint, but the focus will primarily be upon Alex for the time being. Don't worry, though, Bala still has lot's going on just about her ( I think its Issue 5 that focuses mostly upon her and another character not yet introduced)

I really liked it. It definitely has that Marvel role playing game feel. Your love for the X-men also shine in this opening. I really like this as a first issue it inspired me. I'm very impressed. Great Job you won yourself a reader. I'm going to put this on my Multiverse pull list. I rated the first issue a Incredible. Let's see if you can hit shift z. Starting with an Incredible is a tough act to follow. That puts Remarkable at sub par.

Wow! Thanks, Roy, glad you liked it and I hope to keep impressing ya. I've already sent the second issued to Dan. It's got very little action, is mostly a 'talky' issue but it was needed in order to set up some other things with the characters. But, if you are craving some action..just wait...Issue 3 will give them their first real taste of it, and Issue 4...well, lets just say theres a good reason the fight in issue 4 has been in my head for a very long time.

Another great issue. Looking into Alex's life is nice....showing his family. Also.....it makes great since that Bala would go by her real name rather than a codename...while Alex would choose a codename. I'm really enjoying the story.... ;D

Wow, didn't expect ya to get it posted quite that fast, thanks Dan. Glad it didn't seem too slow, I was a little concerned about that. Glad you enjoyed the family insights as well.

I liked it . Its a good follow up. I'm glad Alex is a little apprehensive about completely changing his life. I like that Bala is comfortable with her role. I think developing your characters personalities, especially in the beginning, is more important then action. The world your creating is interesting. I'm still curious to learn more about it.
