Unlimited Legends #12 Meet The Doom Patrol Part One Written by gman12 Edited by Daniel Dyer Featuring... The Museum- New York-The PresentThe museum was dark when the crooks broke in, so they brought flashlights. These weren't your garden variety crooks, they were what could be described as "super-villains". One of the men wore gold plated armor surrounding his body with a hole where the head could be seen. The other looked liked some used chewing gum. Their names were Warp and Plasmus. “Tell me why we’re doing this again?” Warp asks. “All I know is”, Plasmus replies, “that we were told to meet here.” “Ah there you are, I’ve been waiting.” Warp and Plasmus were shocked when they saw the voice was coming from a security guard that walked in. “What treachery is this?” Warp asked suspiciously. “No treachery here, Warp,” said the security guard. “Just a friend.” Then the two watched in awe as the security guard turned into a woman dressed all in black with a knowing smirk on her face. “My name is Madame Rouge,” the woman said. “And now that we all no each other, it’s time for this robbery to begin.” “Oh no, it’s The Doom Patrol.”, Madame Rouge yells out. <>

The two followed her into the room where the large ray stood amongst some peculiar looking statues. “This ray gives anyone who uses it the power to get everything their little heart desires,” Madame Rouge explains. “Well my little heart wants to leave this place as quickly as possible,” says Warp pointing to what looked like a statue of a trench coat wearing Mummy in a wheelchair. “These statues are creeping me out.” “Oh these statues aren’t so bad,” says Plasmus moving to one that looks like a golden robot. “Especially when you melt them down.” Plasmus was shocked however when one of the hands of the “statue” reached out and grabbed him. “I don’t think any melting will be in order,” Robotman says. <>

Soon the other “statues” turned out to be Negative Man and Elasti-Girl, and they joined Robotman in battle. Negative Man used his negative form to swarm around Warp blinding him allowing Elasti-Girl to pick him up. Robotman beat up Plasmus so hard that he barely had a chance to use his burning powers. When they were done with the battle Elasti-Girl was shocked. “Wasn’t there a third person here?” “Never mind that, we have these two here,” Negative Man said. “Let’s get them put away and return to base.” “Chief, we’re coming back,” said Elasti-Girl into an intercom like thing on her arm. As they walked off, they didn’t see the mummy case turn back into Madame Rouge. “Monsieur Malla, tell The Brain that the other two were captured, but I can still get the ray,” Madame Rouge reported. “No need, that was just a test. Get those two morons out of prison and we’ll see what they’ve really got,” Monsieur Malla answered back. <>

The Chief- The Past Niles Caulder wasn’t always a paraplegic. Like all people it happened in the most shocking of accidents. One day he was working on an experiment that he knew would change the world. Unfortunately something went wrong and the experiment backfired. He managed to get out of the building without getting hurt only to get hit by a car turning into the parking lot. When the man who would ultimately become the Chief woke up, he was terrified when he found out that he had lost the use of his legs. Choosing not to have them removed Caulder instead opted to keep them if only for a slight look of normalcy. Soon he became annoyed with people going out of their way to help him with simple tasks, until finally he shouted out, “I think I can handle this myself, thank you.” And so, left to his own devices, the Chief went back to thinking about the experiment that had put him into his predicament, an experiment to change the world. The world’s first brain transplant into a robot body… <>

Prison- New York-The Present Warp and Plasmus sat there in their own little private cells. The Doom Patrol, having studied their foes ahead of time told the guards to put them in cells that would send their powers right back into their own faces. Ordinarily that would have worked, but unfortunately they hadn’t counted on Madame Rouge. Using her own abilities, she was secretly able to glean from the guards the perfect way to release the prisoners from their cells. Knowing that Warp would easily jump to conclusions she set Plasmus free first and then, after turning back into herself she set loose Warp. “It’s about time you set me free,” Warp said arrogantly. “You’re lucky that the Brain wanted you free at all,” Madame Rouge replied. “Whose the Brain?” Warp asked. “Ya, we were hired by a talking monkey,” Plasmus said. “The ‘talking monkey’ as you call him,” said Madame Rouge, “is Monsieur Malla, the second in command to the Brain, who you will meet soon enough.” The three crooks ride off heading to their bosses, or at least the plane that will take them to their bosses. <>

Robotman-The Past Cliff Steele was at one time, one of the greatest racecar drivers in the world. In fact, he probably could have given Dale Earnhardt a run for his money. As it would turn out both Steele and Earnhardt had something in common, both of them crashed their race cars. However Cliff Steele would survive. By a shocking “coincidence” Niles “Chief” Caulder was in the stands that day during the horrible accident that would change Steele’s life forever. The Chief, realizing that Steele would be the perfect candidate for his “Robotman” experiment, quickly took charge of the surgery for the body. Keeping Steele’s brain close he quickly moved him into the robotic body that he had already created. He turned on the juice, and Robotman was born. “What happened to me?” the man who was once Cliff Steele asked the Chief, “Where am I?” “You have been given the chance for another life.”, The Chief told him, “And I want you to join me in an effort to protect the world. Will you join me, my… Robotman?” Considering, Robotman agreed, and thus a partnership was formed. <>

The Brain’s Lair-Paris, France-The Present “Come in please. The Brain has been expecting you,” Monsieur Malla says to the three villains entering through the front door. Warp and Plasmus look around the building with shock having never been there before, while Madame Rouge just walked over to the talking ape. “Why the Brain wants these two after how easily they were defeated by Those ‘heroes’ calling themselves the Doom Patrol is beyond me,” said a confused Madame Rouge. “The Brain has his reasons,” Monsieur Malla answers back. <>

Monsieur Malla opened the door letting Madam Rouge, Warp and Plasmus enter the room. Once again, while this is old hat to Madame Rouge, Warp and Plasmus stand there shocked for what they see before them is a brain in a skull-like jar. “So these are Warp and Plasmus. I have heard a lot about you,” the Brain said to the two befuddled criminals. “In case you are wondering why I have called you here today is because with my genius and your brawn and powers, the five of us can defeat Niles Caulder and his annoying Doom Patrol.” The Brain continues, “I would like to welcome you to the Brotherhood of Evil.” To be continued...
