So far very Buffy like. I'm a big Buffy fan so I enjoyed it very much.

I never watched Buffy so I don't have that frame of reference. What I do know is that I liked the character interactions from the snobbish girl to the goofy Keyser. So it looks like a teenage hero will come out of this, and that's cool. The teen years provide very fertile and interesting situations to explore.
Though I hope the mysterious man doesn't give our girl Alex too much trouble.
Good start.

yeah...i know...it is very buffy-esque...Huntress is, indeed based on Buffy, just hopefully changed a few things enough that it wopn't come off as a complete rip-off.....but the supporting characters aren't based on Buffy...they are actually people i knew when i went to CCHS (Culpeper County High School). although, I can see the similiarities the supporting characters share with the Buffy cast.....

It is very Buffy-esque, and this first issue is a lot like the first part of "Welcome to the Hellmouth". I like the characters as well. All in all a good read, but could use some more action, so I'll be waiting for the next issues. Also, minour note, the first post is just about a perfect Buffy episode teaser. Had the little surprise which the teasers usually have...

Interesting start. I'm not so familiar with Buffy, either, so I won't notice the similarities as much. Good characterization, though the teenage drama started very, very quickly. Interesting that of our initial originals line, two start out dealing with vampires...

I loved this issue...Great start...and I like the Title change (Wasn't it first titled Huntress?)...What I loved the most was the characters...it felt like I was in school with these people....Yes, it is Buffy-Like, but different.....In my mind's eye at least they seem younger to me.....like an actual cast of high school kids and not adults pretending to be HS kids....Loved that you were using places you know...I can't wait for more......

yeah...it originally was just Huntress. Just figured I'd be slightly more descriptive in the title because the solicit goes up on the DC boards and don't want any confusion since DC has a Huntress....
Also, about the characters...yes, they feel like teens because they are....I knew some very interesting people as a teen. Sandra was a snobbish girl I knew since 3rd grade...lol Kat I met in high school and became close friends with...although I may be playing up her goth side more than she actually was....Keyser's a guy I met in 7th grade....a guy who ACTED incredibly dumb but I knew it was an act...Chris also knew since 7th and was a so-so friend...not too close, but we talked occasionally. Matt was a guy I knew...but probably the one in the cast that I knew the least. I think when creating a supporting cast for an original character it may be best to base supporting characters on people ya know....that way they do have some life in them and don't feel flat. Alexis, however, isn't based on someone I knew....but being the star I think I'll certainly be able to flesh her out even without a pre-existing characteristic. Again, glad ya like it....

Hey Dan!
I just read Vampire Huntress #1.
I really enjoyed this. Changing the title was a smart move, as this lets us know what kind of huntress Alexis is.
I laughed when I saw this takes place in Culpeper. You happen to live there too. Coincidence??? LOL.
I actually think it's kind of neat that you put Culpeper on the map, since I never heard of the town until meeting you on the Multiverse site.
I also enjoy hearing you used real life friends as inspirations for this story. Do you keep in contact with any of them to this day? If so, maybe you should have them check out the story. I think they'd appreciate having stories written about them.
I felt all the characters had a real voice to them. My only complaint is that we were introduced to several students in one story, so I had to go back and check who was who. Maybe focus on just two or three at the most, and then make the others have minor roles. At least until we all get used to them.
Still the story was pretty easy to follow, so there was no real confusion going on.
Yes this felt very buffy-esque, not necessarily in the supporting characters, but in the premise. New girl moves to new town, meets new friends, finds out she hunts vampires. That's the buffy-ish parts.
My best advice to avoiding everyone comparing this title with Buffy in the future is to try and set these characters and their stories apart from what we've seen already. Give them distinct personalities, in distinct storylines, in distinct settings, and the rest will fall into place.
Another nice addition to the Originals section! I'll be reading upcoming issues to see how Alexis' story develops.

Another great issue. Here we get some background about Alexis' lineage and who she is and what she will become. I suspect somewhere down the line we may get an appearance by Drac himself (I hope).
Again, I like your feel for these teenage characters. They seem like real people with hopes and fears and desires. And is it just me but it looks like Matt is SCREWED. Maybe Alexis can save the day.
I like how Alexis has a "vampire sense". Pretty useful if you're gonna hunt vampires, I think.
Just a quick scan of these Camelot titles shows we've got ourselves a dark, spooky little world here. Makes me glad I don't live in it.
Looking forward to ish three.
