Joseph sat dazed. He wanted to do something about this wolf chewing on his shoulder, but he just had no energy. He looked over to the snarling creature. He wanted to do something, but he couldn’t.
“
Aredo!”
A flame shot up the creature’s back. It jumped off of him, howling in pain. Joseph struggled to look up. He watched as two men and a woman stepped out from the shadows.
The white haired man kneeled to Joseph and helped him up. “Can you tell me your name?” he asked.
“J... Jo… Joseph,” he mumbled.
“Alright, Joe, you gotta stay awake, k’?”
Joseph nodded.
The man looked over to see the beast shaking the pain off. He looked over to his companion. “Jon.” The man touched the ground and in a flash of light the wolf was bound with spirals of earth. Jon stretched out his hand, ready to attack.
Sara watched on, gripping her face. She had the same pounding in her head when she saw Victor. She was struggling to keep the beast buried. Her palms were sweating and she was breathing heavily. She couldn’t hold it back any longer.
“It’s Mine!!” she shouted in an inhuman voice as she lunged at the werewolf. She crashed into it, shattering the rock surrounding it. They slammed into the ground tearing at each other. Blood began to fly as claws struck skin. They tore at each other for a good half-hour until Sara snapped out of it. She awoke thirsty. She stared down in fear at the thing. It seemed to smile as it kicked her off. She flew into the nearest park bench. All three watched in fear as the werewolf jumped for Sara. She cringed expecting attack, but the creature was splattered with a silver liquid. It fell back and howled in pain. It looked up to the barrel of a gun looming over it. It whimpered.
Bang!A hole was blown in its chest; through its heart. It slumped over.
“Looks like you boys are getting shabby,” a new figure laughed.
Jon and Robert looked warmly over to their old friend. They rushed over to him. Robert shook his hand and Jon hugged him.
“How you been, Ed?” Robert said smiling.
“Better than you two, I see,” Ed quipped.
“What was that stuff you shot it with?” Jon quizzed.
Ed smiled in response. “
Silvered metal; Mercury. I figured some thermometers were a little cheaper than silver bullets,” he responded.
“Pretty smart, immobilize ‘em with mercury, then finish it with a silver bullet,” Robert said.
Sara smiled and stepped closer to the group. “Friend of yours?” she asked. She was halted by a cold steel muzzle pressed against her chest. She looked up to see Ed staring intently at her.
“One more step, blood sucker, and you get a harpoon to the heart.”
Sara swallowed heavily. “What?” she asked.
“Don’t play stupid. I saw the way you attacked that werewolf. Only vampires hate werewolves that much and can heal that quickly.”
Sara glanced down, noticing that beneath her blood soaked dress, there were no wounds.
Ed smelled the air. “You even smell like
him.” Ed didn’t want to even mutter the name of his former friend and partner.
Jon stepped in front of the barrel. “It’s not what you think, Ed. A few weeks ago Victor showed up in town, and… she was bit, but I assure you she is nothing like him. I made sure of that.”
“You saw how she acted, Jon. They’re bloodthirsty beasts and don’t deserve the immortality they own,” Ed said sternly. Robert walked up and brushed the gun, transmuting it closed.
“No, Ed, we trust her.” The two stood firmly in between their two friends.
Ed looked at them in the eyes. He turned to Joseph on the grass. “We should get him a good patch up. Robert’s improve won’t hold long,” he changed the subject.
