BIO: Cassandra Sandsmark was born to Helena Sandsmark and Wayne Howard in Gateway City, California. After her birth Wayne moved the family to a small town in the Midwest. There he opened his own dentist office and Helena took a break from teaching to raise Cassie and pursue school part-time. Before her fifth birthday Wayne died from complications with a disease he had been battling for several years. Her memories of her father, few and far between, are hazy at best.
Helena decided to take Cassie back to Gateway City after Wayne’s passing. There she put her PHD on hold and took a job at Gateway Antiques. For five years Cassie would join her mother after school as she catalogued various heirlooms. One night, when she was ten, a chess called to her. Despite no recognition of doing so, Cassie opened the chess and unleashed what could be equivalent to a modern day Pandora’s box. She kept her actions a secret from Helena.
That evening Cassie experienced a surreal dream. One in which she was older and fighting creatures she had never seen before. Alongside her were other brave warriors. A voice taunted her and with that she awoke. Realizing what had happened Helena agreed to send her only daughter to live with Artemis and the Amazons.
For ten years Cassie walked amongst the women of myth and was treated as their sister. Shortly before her twenty-first birthday she was summoned to meet with the Amazonian Queen, Hippolyta. Hippolyta offered her a chance to return to Patriarch’s world, as the Amazons called it, to reunite with her mother. Of course there was a catch.
Shortly before a mighty hero named Superman was murdered at the hands of the beast known as Doomsday. He stood for all that was good in the world. The United States Government was looking for a replacement to return the hope that was lost with Superman’s death. Cassie was offered the chance to become the next hero of Earth.
After much debate she agreed to join Veronica Cale and Deedra Miller, two government employees, and become Lady Liberty, earth’s new hero!
At the press conference to introduce Lady Liberty to the world a being who called himself Herakles attacked. Lady Liberty wasted no time and prevented anyone present from being harmed. As she followed the villain Jasmine Lee, a reporter for the Gateway Tribune, named her Wonder Woman.
As the newly named Wonder Woman played cat and mouse with the Greek hero she discovered she was immune to his lightening bolts. The battle ended in a stalemate. This would not be the last time she was confronted by the demigod.
By now the whole world was in awe. A woman with similar abilities as their beloved Superman was introduced. Sure the world had Supergirl but she was different. Somehow Wonder Woman gave off a feeling of harmony. As long as people were in her presence then they knew everything was going to be okay.
Veronica arranged for Jasmine Lee to conduct an exclusive interview with Wonder Woman. Everything started off well but ended miserably. Herakles jeopardized the lives of dozens of people at the restaurant they met at and left Cassie with more questions about her purpose in everything.
Choosing to not allow Herakles's interference to disrupt her mission, Cassie continued her interview with Jasmine. In the end, the world was introduced to a new savior, one that was neither alien nor human.
