"Woo-Hah! This is so schway,” Terry McGinnis states as tries out Oracle’s gift. It’s an all black high-tech suit the covers every inch of skin, with white, pupil-less lenses over his eyes and a big red bat cover his chest. Jets in his boots are allowing the young man to soar over Gotham City with ease. It appears as though, through Terry, the Batman has returned, to once again strike terror into the hearts of evil. Terry comes to a rest on a ledge on the Wayne-Powers building. “Sway.”
“Terry,” comes the electronic voice of Oracle over a communicator built into the mask of Terry’s suit. “Keep your mind on business.”
“Believe me, mysterious voice in my head, I have my mind square on business.”
“Good. Press the tips of your fingers to the window, but stay out of site.”
Terry does as Oracle tells him and he can hear everything that’s being said in Derek Powers’ office as if he was actually in the room.
“I thought this was ruled as an attack by the Jokerz, Commissioner Drake,” Derek tells him.
“Oh, it was, Mr. Powers. I just stopped by to ask if you may know why the Jokerz targeted Mr. McGinnis?”
“Who can tell the motives of mad men?”
“Yeah... I suppose so. I guess I’ll be going.”
And Tim leaves, Derek alone with Mr. Fix.
“Mr. Fix, follow the good Commissioner and make sure he doesn’t snoop too much on his way out. I’m going down to the lab to see how our project is progressing.”
And the two leave the room.
“Oracle, they’ve left. I’m going in,” Terry tells his mysterious benefactor as he opens the window.
“Be careful. Try not to get caught on your first night on the job.
“Does that mean they’ll be other nights like this?” Terry asks rhetorically.
“Make it through the first night and then we’ll talk.”
Terry looks through the papers on Derek’s desk. “Do you see this?”
“Crystal,” comes Oracle’s voice. “It appears Mr. Powers is developing his own metahuman program.”
“My father must have stumbled across this.” Terry slams his fist down on the desk, smashing it. “And it cost him his life!”
“Calm down, Terry.”
“Sorry, it’s just...”
“I know.”
“Right. Work to do,” the new Batman says as he runs out of the office.
When Terry is gone, the shadows seem to shift and move and then from them forms a woman. She calls herself Inque. She pushes a button on the intercom. “All security personnel. There is an intruder in the building. He has a form fitting costume with a red bat on the chest.” Inque lets go of the button. “This should be interesting.”
