Coast City- Carol Ferris’s Office All five Green Lanterns didn’t know what to do. Well, actually Hal knew exactly what to do. He sat back down on the couch. “Why, why, why did it have to be you, Jenni?” asked Hal to the air. Jennifer Hayden-Stewart, stepdaughter of John Stewart, was in a full Green Lantern costume, and was wearing a ring on her finger, right outside the hole in the wall. “You mean you know her?” asked Arisia. “Okay, 2814, I want the full story, now,” said Kilowag kinda roughly to Hal. “I just did what you asked me to do, Kilowag. I sent that ring you gave me to find my alternate. It’s just that…” but Hal just stopped talking. “So this female is your alternate?” asked Ch’p as Jenni landed in the office. “So that means I really am a Green Lantern, huh? Cool,” said Jenni to herself. “Anyways, we must stop the Manhunters, and the sooner the better,” said Salakk, being the voice of reason. “Right, now us five are going…” began Kilowag. “Um… don’t you mean six?” asked Jenni. “No, I mean five. You’re too new to handle this, little girl…”began Kilowag again, not even trying to notice Jenni’s reaction. “So, anyways, us five are going to try to surround these robots and then destroy them one by one. Got it?” “Got it,” said the other four Green Lanterns. “And then what about me?” asked Jenni. “You? Why don’t you stay here and watch after these two,” said Arisia as she pointed to the unconscious forms of Tom Kalamaku and Carol Ferris. And with that, the Five Green Lanterns left. —

In the skies above Coast City All five Green Lanterns were flying towards the S.T.A.R. Labs building, which was the apparent destination of the Manhunters. “Jordan, you know her, don’t you?” asked Arisia. “Who?” asked Jordan back to her. “You know what I'm talking about, Jordan. That girl in the office.” “Yeah, we once dated,” but by the look on Arisia’s face she apparently didn’t understand, so he tried again. “We were boyfriend/girlfriend.” That didn’t work either. “We were in a romantic relationship.” That one seemed to work. “So you two aren’t anymore?” asked Arisia. “Nope, no more.” Though Hal wouldn’t admit it, Arisia actually appeared to be relived. “Could we have a little bit of quiet back there?” asked Ch’p. And silence rained the rest of the way there. —

S.T.A.R. Labs, Coast City Daniel Dyer was setting at the front desk watching the news about some sort of yellow meteor that landed at Ferris. But then something blew the front doors off their hinges and then the aliens that were repeatedly being shown on the news began to float though the hole where the door once was. “You,” said a cold, metallic voice, and pointing to the man at the front desk. “Me?” “Yes, you. Where do they keep, oh what do you disgusting humans call it, the…” but he never got to finish his sentence, because a huge mass of muscle came crashing though the ceiling and landed on that particular Manhunter. Swinging into action fast the other Manhunters charged the behemoth known as Kilowag. But then both Ch’p and Salaak came down though the roof, blasting the other Manhunters with their rings. —

Further inside, Hal and Arisia were looking though a lab for anything that could possible interest the Manhunters. “Find anything?” asked Hal, hopeful that she at least was having some luck. “Well I did find something about a batch of Nth Metal that they had recently uncovered, but nothing else,” answered Arisia. “Nth Metal? What’s that?” asked Hal. “It’s a metal found on a planet called Thangar, it has…” but then Arisia stopped in her tracks as she pulled out a huge blueprint. “Oh no.” “What? What did you find?” Hal asked the pretty young Green Lantern. “Look,” she said as she cleared a nearby table and rolled out the blueprint. “This is a blueprint of a Thangarian Scout Ship. They found one, here on Earth it seems.” “And that’s bad?” “Yes, you see Thangarians guard their power supplies with their very lives, because they never run out. No one knows how. Maybe it has to do with the Nth metal. Who knows, but that’s what they are after.” “The unlimited power core.” “Yes. You see, with it they would never run out.” “That's right, my young Green Lanterns. Now, be good little Green Lantern and surrender,” said a Manhunter as he walked out of the shadows, flanked by six more Manhunters. Hal didn’t know how long they were there but he knew one thing, he wasn’t going to surrender. So he did the only American thing to do, he jumped head long into the lead Manhunter, knocking him over. “Arisia, call Kilowag and tell him what we have found! I will try and hold them off!” —

But Kilowag was having his own Manhunter issues. He began to realize quickly that Hal estimate that there was about 30 Manhunters was a gross understatement. It was more like there were about 300. “Ch’p watch you back!” he bellowed just in time, allowing Ch’p to create something like a buzz saw and sawed the Manhunter in half. Kilowag threw a Manhunter’s skull at another Manhunter, getting its attention. But when he was about to deck the Manhunter, a ray of green light cut the alien robot in half. Turning, Kilowag saw Arisia come running up to him. “What’s goin’ on Arisia?” he asked, as he turned around and punched a hole in another Manhunter. “We found what they’re after! It’s a Thangarian power source,” said Arisia as she joined the fight. “Thangarian?” asked Salaak, his interest perked. “How did this backwater planet get its hands on one of those?” “It seems like one crashed here. I don’t when or how.” —

Back in the Lab, Jordan was having a few problems. He was able to handle the first couple of Manhunters pretty well. It was the last four that were giving him trouble. “Surrender now, and we may just let you crawl out of here alive,” said one of the Manhunters. “Never! You see, I don’t know how to surrender,” he said as he used a baseball bat to play a little tee-ball with his head. But then the other three lunged at him at once, knocking the wind out of him. “Hey, Redcoats,” said a female voice that wasn’t Arisia, as she scrapped off one of the Manhunters with, well a spatula. Great, now she’s here to ruin it.Hal then used his ring to create a field around him, which he expanded to knock both of the Manhunters across the room. “What are you doing here?” Hal said to the new Green Lantern. “What did I do wrong?” she asked. “You disobeyed a direct order, Jenni. You’re too young to understand,” Hal responded as much anger as he could muster, completely forgetting he’s roughly the same age as Miss Hayden.. “You...? How do you know who I am?” she asked, looking rather sad. “Now’s not the time. We have to get to that ship before the Manhunters do,” he said, jabbing a finger at her, “and you might as well come along,” he added through gritted teeth. —

Daniel was having trouble dodging debris from Manhunter parts and bits and pieces of ceiling. “My ring is telling me that there is a human in the building,” said Arisia as she dismantled a Manhunter with a quick blast of emerald energy. “Then get him out of here,” said Ch’p as he literally blew though a Manhunter, and then though the one right behind that one. Arisia used her ring to find Daniel, who was hunkered behind what was left of the front desk. Grabbing Daniel, she began to head for one of the several holes in the ceiling, him protesting the whole way (Even though he was in the arms of beautiful woman). Once outside, she landed on a nearby building, dropping him off, and then she headed back into the fray against the Manhunters. —

Except when she got there, all of the Manhunters were stone frozen. “What happened?” asked Arisia as she landed next to the other Green Lanterns. “We don’t know. They just stopped all of a sudden,” answered Salaak. “Well she may have something to do with it,” said Hal as he and Jenni came walking up the hall to them. “Didn’t we tell you to stay behind?” asked Ch’p in his high, squeaky voice. “Yeah, you did, but she disobeyed,” said Hal. “Easy, Ha… 2814. What exactly did she do?” asked Kilowag, nearly slipping Hal’s secret identity. “I blew up the ship,” she added with a hint of pride. “You blew up the ship?” asked Salaak in horror. “Yeah, I though we didn’t want them to get to the ship,” said Jenni, puzzled. “Lighten up, Salaak. You did okay, kid,” added Kilowag. “So who’s going to clean up this mess?” asked Hal. “That would be you. This is your sector, not ours,” said Ch’p proudly. “Oh man,” said Hal under his breath. —

Later that day- Ferris Airfield Hal as Green Lantern had finished cleaning up S.T.A.R. Labs, so now as Hal Jordan, he was trying to help clean the wreckage at Ferris. “You know you could of told me, Hal,” said a female voice behind him. Hal turned to find Jenni, standing there, not in a Green Lantern uniform. “Jenni, what are doing in Coast City?” Hal asked, like he really didn’t know. “Cut the crap, Hal, I know all about you secret. You know, the ring?” she said, pointing at his hand. “You’re lucky I’m working alone here, Jenni,” he said, defeated. “Hal, why didn’t you tell me?” she asked, almost like it hurt. “Look, I haven’t told anyone, Jenni.” “Then why does it seem like you don’t like me having one myself?” “I have my reasons, Jenni. This life is dangerous and I…” he said, looking away. “And I what?” “Nothing. It’s nothing, Jenni.” “Well, I guess I will have to wait for that answer some other time. That big guy, Kilowag, wants me to come to Oa with him and get trained.” “So this is a goodbye?” Hal asked. “Yeah, I guess it is, for now,” she said as she began to walk away. Hal, watching her go felt a surge of guilt. “Wait.” Jenni turns back to Hal. “Yeah?” “I could take you, if you’d like?” “Really?” asks Jenni. “Why not? Might help you to have a familiar face around.” —
