Captain Marvel #1
Journey into… Earth?!
Journey into… Earth?!

Down the hall and to the right lay the central control room of Muker’s Base, and inside are four very driven people. Three are sitting, two at a table and one at a desk surrounded by electronics, the forth is standing at the head of the table in front of a giant view screen. That person is a tall, well put together, 29 year old blonde in a military uniform who goes by the name of Carol Danvers. She was seasoned in military life, and the head of their attempt to bring in the fugitive known as Captain Marvel, whose image graced the screen behind her in video clips.
“As you can see, he wears a green and silver uniform with what appears to be an image of the planet Saturn on it. He wears green boots and a green helmet, apparently designed much like the ancient Greek Spartans helmets.”
“What about his weapons?”
The person who asked Carol the question was one of the two at the table behind her, 25 year old Mark Hansen, Carol’s fiancé. Carol had known him five years now and they had been dating nearly four and a half of those years. In a way Captain Marvel had brought them together, when the military first started studying Marvel they realized that he used “Nega” type energy. This brought them to the attention of Mark, a young up and coming scientist who had major break throughs with nega energy. Carol went to interview him and it was love at first sight. But Carol’s life in the military, how ever it and Captain Marvel may have brought them together, was a constant source of strife. She was a career girl and it had taken a third asking before she agreed to marry Mark.
“You know this already, a gun shaped Nega Blaster capable of different levels of energy dispersion. He’s used for many things, a weapon, a welding torch, even a flash light. Then there’s the wrist blaster, you can see how the wrist on his right glove is larger then the wrist on the left. We believe the glove houses a battery that channels through the glove and out towards a target, we have no evidence that it has any other non-offensive purpose.”
“But that glove thing doesn’t use nega energy right?” Piped a voice from behind the computers.
The voice belonged to Hair Gel, the nickname of 34 year old Chris Mull. Hair Gel was the head of what he called “tech support” on the base. In reality he was the only true tech guy the base had left, cut backs had drained everyone else out. Sure he had an assistant or two but they were still newbs and he didn’t trust them enough to handle all the work. Work that essentially boiled down to making sure the computers worked and to set up all the equipment for Carol's weekly updates.
“Right, thanks to Mark here we now know that the wrist blaster is in fact some sort of Photonic, not nega, weapon. This seems to be at odds with his other equipment as on both the videos we have of him the Photon Band has failed, while the wrest of his equipment worked perfectly.
“That’s all well and good, but what about the flying and the strength?”
This time the voice belonged to the last person at the table, 58 year old General Wolfton. The General was at his first meeting on Marvel today, namely because he didn’t want to get caught up in any of this Super-Human Hooey, that’s for people like Ross or Fury. Only the fact that this was the last real program left at the base that earned it any notice from the Pentagon or Washington and he had literally nothing else going on today, brought him to this meeting. The group around him helped put him at ease though. He trusted Carol despite her being the daughter of a reporter, and Mull was solid and reliable making sure all of his equipment ran. He didn’t much enjoy a civilian in the room but he had been giving access to the Marvel information because he was the only one who could explain it and Carol trusted him.
“We believe he has some sort of anti gravity device in his belt and his strength may very well be natural, based off his suit, or a combination of the two. We do know his upper strength limit seems to be a four door coup.”
“So five plus years of research and this is all we know?”
The general was beginning to get agitated, and with good reason. His base was whittled down to researching one man whose only appeared a confirmed 11 times before they started and 3 since. For all they know Marvel could have died some where and they’re researching a ghost!
“Sir!” came a panicked cry from behind the computer. “There’s something at the base really fast!” Hair Gel looked up at them worried, something on radar was coming at them faster then any jet.
“Well let's not take any chan--” before the General could finish the ground shook and the General nearly toppled over even in his chair.
“What the hell was that?!”
“On the screen now sir!” Hair Gel pulled up a security camera footage and Mark shot up out of his chair mouth agape at the sight. There stood a vaguely humanoid figure, easily twenty feet tall. It was made of a strange purple metal and that caused, despite it’s height, the robot to seem short and wider. It’s hand glowed brightly with light emanating from a circular opening in its palm.
“Mark what is it?!” Carol asked noticing his astonished reaction.
Mark looked at her a moment, like he’s almost questioning her and then, “C-Carol it’s hands, that raw Nega energy! Just like Captain Marvel!”
Carol was stunned for a moment and realized the truth, it was nega energy and the only other place she saw it used like that was with Captain Marvel!
“Quick everyone outside!” The General yelled as he ran out to the hall and then out of the base doors. The others followed behind him quickly, seemingly needing to have to see it for themselves.
Out on the grounds they could now hear the fact that the giant purple robot spoke, “I am a Kree Sentry, I have come in search of Mar-Vell. He is a fugitive of the interstellar Kree Navy, I have tracked him to this location. Hand him over or I will be forced to destroy you.”
The General stepped forward and spoke. “We, too, are in search of Marvel, maybe we could wo--” A blast of solid energy shot from the robot's palm and only by Carol grabbing the General and rolling out of the way did he survive.
“Unacceptable, Mar-Vell is here. I have tracked him here. I must carry out my mission.” Thus the robot began to systematically obliterate the surroundings. Mark started to panic. “Carol! I--I have something in the hangar!”
“What?!” Carol yelled pulling out her weapon and firing, the bullets just bouncing off seemingly invulnerable armor.
“My Nega energy disruptor!” Carol knew Mark had been working on a machine that could negate Marvels nega powered weapons but it wasn’t even close to being finished. “I have it in the hanger I’m going to go get it!” Mark yelled running towards the hanger. Carol looked at Mark and tried to get to him, he was a civilian after all, but the Sentry cut her off sending her in a roll to dodge it’s attack. The rest of the base’s occupants poured out to do battle with their giant menace, but it was like ant’s fighting an alligator.
