[glow=yellow,2,300]Guy Gardner: The Warrior[/glow]Height: 5'8" Weight: 230 Eyes: Blue Hair: red First appearance: Legends of the Green Lantern Corps #1 Known relatives: None that are willing to admit it. Guy Gardner was a high school football star growing up in Coopersville Wisconsin. He dreamed of playing for the Packers, but found that dream dashed when he injured his knee in the Homecoming game his senior year. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Air Force where he excelled in everything he tried. He rose in the ranks quickly due to a cutthroat attitude & utter disregard for everyone but higher ranking officers. Guy was the best pilot stationed at Edwards Air Force Base... Until Lt. Hal Jordan arrived. Their rivalry was legendary, as were their egos. One day, while flying super top-secret Stealth Fighters over Death Valley, California, a doomed alien spacecraft crash landed, nearly killing both pilots. Hal was bequethed a Green Lantern power ring. Eventually Guy discovered Hal's secret identity and through his own twisted sense of arrogant paranoia, attempted to kill Hal. The two men were interrupted by a posessed Green Lantern named Sinestro. Hal eventually defeated Sinestro, but Gardner killed the fallen alien, taking his power ring as a prize! What he did not realize was that the ring was poisoned by the LEGION viruis! The ring posessed his already fragile mind and drove him into the depths of space and eventually to the anti-matter universe of Qward. There Guy forced himself into a leadership position and prospered as other feared him. Although his personality was in tact, the ring controlled him utterly and drove him to do things even Guy would not usually have done. When the Green Lantern Corps, lead by Kilowog & hal invaded Qward, Guy was defeated, but managed to escape. The source of the LEGION virus was destroyed, but the ring that Guy wore was the first to be infected & forever altered. Guy feels that he no longer has a place on Earth, and travels the Universe in search of adventure as a bounty hunter. He currently goes by the name Warrior, because it makes him feel better about himself.

In an encounter with a Qwardian, Sinestro was infected by the LEGION virus. The virus took over his ring, and then, quickly his mind. It drove him to commit horrible atrocities across the universe, including genocide, when he destroyed the fragile planet Graxos IV while attempting to spread the virus to fellow GL's Abin Sur & Fentara. Fentara was murdered by his daughter, Arisia (also infected with the virus) and Abin Sur escaped. Sinestro pursued Abin to Earth, a small blue, primative planet in sector 2814. This lead to a fateful fight with a new GL named Hal Jordan, who managed to defeat Sinestro. Sinestro was murdered by Guy Gardner, who subsequently stole his infected ring.
